As a lifestyle blogger, social media addict and diehard texter, I need my phone… a lot. The struggle: Being a busy body and working a full time job, I never have my phone on alert and it is always in my purse so therefore, I miss phone calls (important ones too!) and texts like nobody’s business.
Want a way to spice of your work week and those drab gray cubicle walls without having to buy a $500 Beyonce power suit? Every once in a while I like to rock a new statement piece to work. It somehow makes me feel energized and spices up my sometimes mundane weekly routine. I truly believe that by looking and feeling your best, you tend to elude happiness, confidence, poise, and the list goes on and on. Do not under estimate the power of a fabulous stiletto or slimming pencil skirt!
One of my new year’s resolutions this year was to pick a new inspirational quote every Monday and focus on it for that entire week. I decided to do this as a way for me to stay focused on what is important, gain new perspectives, and improve my overall wellbeing. With 9 weeks into the year – so far so good. I thought my blog would not only be a perfect opportunity to document my Motivational Monday’s, but also provide an opportunity to inspire and encourage my blog readers. It’s all about helping each other out – right?!
Upon returning from my fourth trip to Kauai this morning, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share my Top 10 things to do on the Garden Isle. Before I get started on the Top 10 list, I must provide a warning: Do not go to Kauai without The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed (or as I call it – the blue book). Your trip will not be as great. I promise you this.
I always think it’s fascinating to hear about women’s beauty philosophies – where they skimp and where they splurge. With that in mind, I thought it might be interesting to share my own mantra when it comes to my beauty philosophy and regimen.
Being the wife of a pilot, we always fly standby. There are some MAJOR perks to this such as (mostly) free airfare and schedule flexibility. However, there is one huge downside for us girls: no checked bags! It doesn’t matter if you are going to Europe for 3 weeks or Hawaii for 7 days or Austin for the weekend – no checked bags allowed! As you can imagine, I have mastered the art of packing – whether I wanted to or not. While going through this packing journey (oh man – never gets old), I have learned that I actually like packing lighter. It isn’t so heavy to carry, I make decisions on outfits before we leave which removes the guess work out of outfits when I arrive at my destination, and I think it is a fun challenge.
When I get into healthy eating and weight loss/maintenance mode, I tend to rely heavily on routines and repetition to keep myself on track. Not only does meal planning save money and calories, but it also takes the guess work out of meals for the entire week.
We always go out to a nice dinner for Valentine’s Day instead of buying each other presents. We are the couple that prefers experiences (yummy food) and memories (a romantical dinner) over gifts on this lovely holiday.
Being on a clean eating diet, it is nearly impossible to find a pre-made jam in the stores that does not contain processed sugar. I decided to take matters into my own hands and boy I’m sure glad I did. BEST. JAM. ON. THE. PLANET. Not only was it healthier with the honey substitute and chia seeds, but it was the best tasting jam I had ever tasted (winning!). I ended up using this jam on everything from PB&J sandwiches to waffles to bruschetta.
On a tight budget? Been stuck in the house for the last couple of months and just want to have a change of scenery? Go take a hike… in Sedona! On Valentine’s Day this year, we decided to celebrate our love by taking a day trip to Sedona for some lovely hiking (see what I did there).
